Armed with serious bug spray, we braved the mosquitoes to get these sunset shots. I’m quite happy with them as the experience has also helped me appreciate the beauty of Winnipeg’s prairie landscapes. Sometimes you take your hometown for granted, you know? The past few years in Toronto have offered endless visual stimulation and examples of urban landscapes that can’t be found in any other Canadian city. In contrast, Winnipeg offers its own allure in its flat, far-reaching fields found at the edge of the city. Here, long shots pay off in a way that they don’t in a crowded downtown space: your eye can follow lines all the way to the distant vanishing points. Another great session with my favourite collaborator.
During the same shoot, we also created the base image for Holy Water, which has a very different feel to it.
