My friend Katie & I hung out at her place to make some portraits of her at home. Katie is one quirky, creative, funny, and thoughtful woman. We had a blast playing around with different poses, outfits, and lipsticks. She even prepared a spread of cheese, bread and olives, which we washed down with a bottle of cava. How could I not have loved shooting with her? Thanks for the great afternoon, Katie!

A Morning Run in Ottawa

Last weekend, I traveled to Ottawa to visit my sister. I managed to get up early one morning for a run that took me from Byward Market, past the Parliament Building, down the Rideau Canal, and back again.

I’ve decided that I’m going to start a series of photos taken during runs in different cities, called On the Run. Going for runs is my favourite way of getting to know a new place. See here for the previous post on San Francisco.

The beginnings of spring here in Toronto. Captured with my new 24mm 2.8 lens (new for me - bought it used off ebay since it’s an old model recently been discontinued in favour of a more expensive updated model). Can’t wait to make use of this lens for portraits indoors and outdoors.

Shot this late at night and lit it with a cheap $10 lamp perched on a bookshelf. It’s designed to contrast with this shot, taken during the day time in the exact same position.

My little sister visited me last week and one afternoon, we went out for a shoot around Toronto’s Financial District. During her visit, a friend introduced us to wonderful song called “Switzerland” by The Last Bison that we played non-stop. The lyrics happen to be a great fit for this shot.
